30 years ago the family operated Dobes Tomatoes began farming in the Bowen area. The business started with Bill and wife Lyn Dobes, and after 15 years in operation, son Russell and daughter-in-law Janelle joined the business. In 2008 Bill and Lyn retired, handing over the reins to Russell and Janelle. Today, Does Fresh Produce farm tomato, zucchini and pumpkin.

Farms is a third-generation Bowen business that grows tomatoes and
mangoes with no less than nine members of the Williams family involved
in some way or another. But far from making it tense, the family, who
have lived in Bowen for 34 years, love what they do and wouldn't have it
any other way.

Jurgens Produce is a family-owned and operated business that has been growing tomatoes in Bowen for 37 years.Fifteen
years ago the family re-branded its tomatoes ‘VeeJays’ in order to stand
out at busy wholesale markets and make sure its product is not
overlooked in the competitive produce sector. Jurgens Produce believe if
people understood the seasonality of vegetables more, they would be
able to eat fresher, tastier produce that had not been stored in
warehouses and traveled miles. Tomatoes and capsicums are the company's
two main products.

Koorelah Farms was established in early 1950 by Jack and Nancy Willcox. Their son John, and Beverley Willcox established the brand name Koorelah Farms by growing a mixture of horticultural crops from 1967 until their retirement in 1997. A partnership was created between Andrew & Raylene Willcox and Wayne and Leanne Born, the son and daughter of John and Bev. This partnership saw the business grow into one of the largest tomato producers in the Bowen region. Wayne and Leanne purchased the business in 2010. They will continue the Koorelah tradition in supplying quality vine-ripened gourmet tomatoes to domestic and international markets.

Phantom Produce
grows High quality coloured capsicums and green and white cucumbers for
domestic and overseas consumption. Carl Walker runs Phantom Produce with
wife Trudy and the company has been a family enterprise for 15 years.
Carl is also the current president of the Bowen District Growers’
Association, a proactive body that provides support and representation
for growers with the aim of ensuring a sustainable long-term industry
through collaborative working. The family-owned and operated business
has become a member of the new regional brand "Made in the Whitsundays"
as they believe it will come to denote fresh, healthy, quality produce.
